Recent Work: Re imagining Brooklyn

Re-imaging Brooklyn

The charting of the micro and macro, infrastructures, shorelines, roadways, bridges, and mental states provides the imagery for this series. It is a critical perspective on how people – over time – build, manage, live, travel, and inhabit their surroundings. Historic maps of Brooklyn provides the background for this series of work, Reimaging Brooklyn. —Downloaded and then printed in black and white onto archival paper— The maps become a starting point. Boundaries are broken. The terrain is redefined, chaos is embraced in an effort to achieve a visual reconfiguring of the landscape. Each decision influences the next.  The interplay of line, shape, and pattern combined with colors that move between artificial to natural, mixing vibrant and muddy, allows the imagery to break away from the preconceived allowing a more subconscious process to unfold.
